Our Story
St. Mary's Hall in Buncrana was constructed in 1904 and officially inaugurated on February 23, 1905. Designed by architect Edward J. Toye, a native of Derry renowned for his work with the Catholic Church in Donegal, the building's distinctive Edwardian quasi-baroque revival entrance front remains one of the most striking facades just off Buncrana's Main Street.
Initially serving as a venue for gatherings, it has since transformed into a vibrant community space, hosting cinema screenings, theatrical performances, and a diverse range of activities from art to fitness, bingo to parent and toddler groups, and much more.
Today the cinema screens the latest releases in a beautifully preserved auditorium, welcoming schools, community groups, and film lovers of all ages.

Loved by Locals & Visitors
This place is like stepping back in time, but with all the latest sound and projection equipment. The staff are so incredibly friendly and helpful. That red curtain is pure class seeing that open up. An absolute must for locals and tourists alike.

Such a refreshing change from the usual multiplex cinemas. Good sized screen, great sound and nice seats, even curtains opening to reveal the screen as it should be. It is a gem and I can't wait for my next visit.

Fantastic little place. The picture quality and the surround-sound quality were excellent. Sat up on the balcony for the first time in years and loved every minute. Thanks to the staff for a lovely birthday trip.

It brought back great childhood memories, comfy seats, a great quality screen and old fashioned treats from the shop downstairs. The staff were really friendly and extended a great local welcome.

The people who run it clearly love it, and even on a Monday night there was a good local crowd in there. Really takes you back to the days of cinema, can't wait to go back next holiday.
